The first day I saw the trailer, I knew I had to read the book. It means you go on even though you're scared." -The Hate U Give @angiethomas ; I read this book awhile ago but I want to revisit it on here before I see the movie. This book has the power to foster authentic, meaningful, and necessary conversation among people. It has the power to open people's eyes if they are willing to be uncomfortable and understand what their silence/lack of action implies. ; As much as I wish we lived in a world where a book like this didn't need to be written, that isn't today's reality. So I'm grateful that this book exists so more people start to acknowledge, discuss, and learn about the racism and white privilege that still permeates this country. I'm still learning and growing so that I can better advocate for others and without books like this that wouldn't be possible. Do yourself a favor and read this and go see the movie.
